The First Project to Begin

Welcome to 2025! It feels like we were just ringing in the New Year, and now February is already upon us.

The start of the year has been busy as we finalise plans and schedule the long-awaited commencement of work at MCP! A productive onsite planning session with Dale Johnston, our landscaper, has set the stage for the exciting projects ahead.

In March, we’ll begin by clearing the fence line along the Sebastopol Road (west) side of MCP, removing the tangle of old barbed wire, gorse, and blackberries. Next, we’ll create drainage swales across the property to manage winter rain runoff effectively.

The most exciting step will be designing the layout of the woodland in preparation for tree planting this May/June, coinciding with the Southern Hemisphere autumn. Thanks to our partnership with Mitch Keating of Keating Tree Care, we’ve already received generous mulch donations, with more to come. This mulch will be spread across the woodland area as part of the tree planting preparation.

We’re thrilled to have secured essential funding to kick off this initial project and can’t wait to see these plans come to life!
