Early Spring Update
Following all the rain in August and early September, we have enjoyed a pleasant start to spring—although a cold snap is forecast for tomorrow! A very pleasant surprise, there is a Masked Lapwing nesting on the small island in the middle of the wetland water. Over the past week, more tube-stock trees have been planted, and some of those planted on 5 September have already had mulch applied around them. Planting Day 5th September - update
With nearly 25mm (1 inch) of rain overnight, the ground was very wet, with plenty of water flowing into and out of the wetland area. Fortunately, the afternoon was brighter and dry, although a brisk wind made conditions a little uncomfortable. Our four volunteers planted more than 30 native trees around the wetland, with further planting planned over the coming weeks.
